Walker’s Chips in the Dip

Known as the home of cheddar, the cheese in Walker’s chips (or as they are known in the manufacture’s native UK—crisps) gives this snack food an “unmistakably” tangy taste. Coupled with onion flavoring, these chips are almost a dip in themselves. That’s what makes them so easy to transform into a dreamy, creamy condiment.

If you’re running short on time before your holiday party or weekend get-together, don’t worry about fussing with multiple ingredients just to make a dip. Why buy cheese, veggies and spices when you can get them all in one food? Walker’s cheese and onion chips pack a three-fold punch to your tastebuds with the classic spud flavor of the potatoes, the tang of the cheddar and the onion finish. This super-simple solution to your dip dilemma is easy enough that a child can put it together and only takes mere minutes to create. You can even mix it up while your guests wait or get it ready moments before you leave for a friend’s or family member’s party.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Walker’s Cheese and Onion crisps (i.e., potato chips) – The amount that you use depends on how much dip you want to make and how flavorful you want it to be.
  • Sour cream

Here’s What to Do:

  1. Pulverize the chips. Pour the chips into a bowl. Crush them with your hands, a potato masher or the backside of a spoon. You will want to continue crushing the Walker’s crisps until they are an almost dust-like consistency. If you want to give the dip some extra crunch, keep some of the chip chinks. This will add texture to the dip. If you prefer a creamy concoction, keep crushing until the chips look like sand or dust.
  2. Spoon the sour cream into a bowl. Add as much as you need.
  3. Sprinkle the chip dust (or pieces) into the sour cream.
  4. Stir the mix thoroughly.
  5. Taste the mix. If it isn’t flavorful enough, add more of the crushed chips. Start with a small sprinkle or a few pinches of the cheese and onion dust. Continue to add more as needed.
  6. Serve the Walker’s cheese and onion dip with more chips or veggies. Give it a good stir right before you serve it. You can also use the snack-food mix as a spread for toast, a hamburger topping or on mini tea sandwiches.
