5 Bucket List Items for Snack Lovers (That You Didn’t Know Existed)

Snack lovers, assemble! Here’s the deal: the world is one wild place, filled with enough delicious food and drink to last (at least) ten lifetimes. Still, your bucket list can never be too long, and life is far too short to not take advantage, amirite? So, if you’re looking to expand your love of snacks beyond mere consumption, here are some truly amazing snack-based experiences around the world that would make any snacker weep with joy:

1. Visit an all-you-can-eat snack bar.

Seriously – imagine all the sweets and snacks you can cram into your mouth, for the neat little price of 500 yen (less than $5 USD). Tokyo’s Ebisu Dagashi Bar brings this dream to life for the young and young at heart, offering a crazy selection of dagashi (literally meaning cheap snacks) in a mega cozy atmosphere… and yes, you can have as much as you want!

2. Attend a snack convention.

Looking to connect with likeminded snackers across the globe? Bet you didn’t know that there are actual conventions for those united by a common love for munching. There’s plenty of conventions out there – some geared towards those working in the industry (like Sweets & Snacks Expo, Snackex and Snaxpo) but also others that target enthusiastic consumers, like the recent World Snack Fair, which took Singapore by storm last month with hundreds of snack brands on offer. 3. Tour an actual chocolate factory.

While I’m pretty sure oompa loompas aren’t real, the possibility to tour chocolate factories very much is. If you’re keen to watch the magic happen (and eat your weight in samples), there’s a variety of chocolate factories that offer tours all around the world, including Maison Cailler in Switzerland, the Zaabär Chocolate Factory in Belgium and the Hershey’s Chocolate World Experience in the US.

4. Go to an all-you-can-eat amusement park.

While theme park rides and unlimited ice cream don’t sound like a great mix, it exists, so let’s be real – you’re curious. You can find it at Wunderland Kalkar, one of Germany’s strangest amusement parks. Built on a former nuclear power plant, they offer nifty all-inclusive packages that include ALL the ice cream, fries and soft drinks you can consume… plus access to their buffets and bars (ft. unlimited beer and wine). A dangerous combination indeed. Wunderland Kalkar Germany Happy to Wander-0090-2

5. Visit a snack museum.

Sometimes our devotion to snacks extends beyond simply consuming them. In the case, why not visit entire museums dedicated to our favourites? Luckily, all around the world you can find quirky little museums dedicated to the various national snacks of the country. For instance, there’s the Frietmuseum in Bruges, Belgium (dedicated to fries), the Currywurst Museum in Berlin (featuring sausages and sniffing stations) and even three Ramen museums in Japan, where slurpable noodles mix with interactive displays for the ultimate day out.
